The Systems Immunology Group are interested in the immune responses of the skin. In order to investigate this, we need to take skin samples from healthy patients, or those with skin disease, and conduct experiments in the laboratory to tell us how the skin cells behave, and what changes take place when the skin is diseased.
If you have ever wondered how this is done, then we have produced a short video to explain what happens to a skin sample, from when we collect it from the patient, through the processing in the lab and up to the final data analysis.
