This competition is aimed at students currently attending secondary school or college in Hampshire.
The aim is to create a game that illustrates the workings of the skin immune system. The type of game you make is up to you – it could be in the form of a board game, card game, computer game or even a mobile app!
Rules
Each game will be judged under one of the two following categories:
- Board game/card game
- Computer game/mobile app
Each game will be judged by an expert panel of biologists, dermatologists, computer scientists and mathematicians, and points will be awarded according to the following criteria:
- Game structure and logic (20 points)
- Accurately representing the skin immune system and cell functions (20 points)
- Quality of the game (20 points)
- Originality of the design (20 points)
- How fun the game is! (20 points)
The top 5 teams from each category will be invited to visit the University of Southampton to present their games and earn a possible 10 extra points. The judging panel will then make their final decisions and awards will be presented.
Awards
The following awards are available:
- In the board/card game category
- 1st prize – £200 voucher
- Runner up prizes – 3 x £100 vouchers
- In the computer game/app category:
- 1st prize – £200 voucher
- Runner up prizes – 3x £100 vouchers
